Apart from ranting and writing,I often indulge in quizzing along with debating.Infact, all my posts revolve around mysterious questions that I lay down for myself,to seek answers only on my own.Answers to which no one else, can ever feel.

The weighing machine surely is an instrument to curb my appetite for spicy, oily and fried food. When I am not standing on the machine,or forcing others to stand on it for comparison's sake,I can often be found tapping my foot to popular numbers of the 70s and 80s.

You give it,I read it.As long as it is not Femina,Stardust or any other magazine that houses photographs of women.

Hear(t) Attack
Wednesday, July 01, 2009
I want to publish at the rate of one article every day,but I am tempted to attack one specific scholarship programme in India, called Inlaks Scholarship.Which also stands for India Lacks Scholarships. We are a poor nation. So,please vouch for our scholarship programme and apply for our well being.Since,we want to show to the world, how poor we are in terms of sending our kids abroad to study.

Some solid brickbats to you,Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation.Coming soon!

Their introductory webpage starts off with the following :

"Providing support to talented individuals has been the objective of the Foudation since its inception thirty years back. The Foundation has awarded scholarships to talented young students for studying abroad as well as pursuing their interests within india."

Are they trying to emphasise with that spelling error, that we are a foul and dead nation,or a fraud nation, where talented individuals actually need support to emerge as even more talented individual Indians on a world stage and not a collective effort at all.Yes,they are great frauds.Perhaps, the greatest of all frauds.Since, they are so hell bent on sending the so called talented Indians abroad only to add to their Resume, the tag of a foreign University that might take away all points of national pride and glory from their own,if they were to emerge successful among all living beings.A part of it could well be credit to education in the universities abroad, that we Indians are popular in the world stage now,or in the future.Which would be no less than a gutter,if we were to bank on foreign degrees.

Also to be noted,is the fact that the Foundation has been working towards the cause for the past thirty years, comes to show they are least interested in developing education in our country on the whole, but more interested in sending students abroad. Why?

".....as well as pursuing their interests within india" comes second.

Lets look at it from another angle. They do justice to their name,In lacks Scholarship, which is incorrect, since it always is lakh or lac.In lack,we pay.To make atleast half a lac fight for it?Instead of helping half a lack be prone to great education in India,in not so well established colleges,or people from not so well established backgrounds. In India, they provide scholarships to the IIT-ans,and fine arts scholarships to people from good colleges like M.S.University Baroda.I want to laugh so hard at this.I want to laugh my heart out.Purely,a marketing strategy to enhance their brand name.Like, people from the IITs,even if they need scholarships would actually do anything to develop this country in terms of growth and prosperity.I know one recipient who left this country to study abroad in Texas.

Enough of the mockery.I'll leave your name to the Gods to decide,as to what they want to do with you.

About the thirty year old thing. It started out thirty years ago, scholarships were awarded to atleast a bunch of students, maybe five or six in number. After thirty long years,it has increased,if at all,to nine.I don't have anything more to say about the potential and the capacity to serve Indian students at large,of these scholarships.Either they're going down the drain,or my eyes are fixed straight at the drain while I write about them.

I could well appeal to eminent educationalists with this article, with even more solid proof apart from the sixteen minutes of research that I've done on it.But,I consider it useless to even think of appealing, because the loss is entirely mine.I am strong enough to bear this pain.

"Inlaks Foundation is managed by a Board of Trustees. All Indian operations and financial assistance are managed through the Inlaks India Foundation, set up according to the Indian financial regulations concerning charities operating in the country."

Charity, haha.Charity is what adds up to the greater good of the nation. The greater part of the country needs food, schools for the weak and not scholarships that sound good.

Scroll up,to see exactly why it can't be termed anything short of a massive fraud.

I dont want to comment on the Founder and his Mission, owing to issues pertaining to family tolerance and discipline.

I will not take away everything from you,Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation.I value correction,to the extent that I'll put forward one bright statement of all your purpose(behind this scholarship).

"The Foundation has awarded scholarships to talented young students for studying abroad as well as pursuing their interests within India". The line where they corrected themselves still makes some sense. Studying abroad is as well as pursuing their interests within India.Send the crap outside, let them learn and add to our country.Yeah well!

Last thing.

Anyone who has applied for the scholarship test and interview, and that includes just anyone, unless he/she changes name is eligible to be put to my all time greatest hate list.

That includes everyone, with the one who is the prime purpose behind this rant.

For(k) Time

If I were to draw a rough comparison to my father's lifestory,I would not be able to point out to even one similarity if there existed any.Simply because,my father's is not an open book.

When he secured the first place in the University exams in final year of engineering, there was no one in the family that knew of this feat. Also, when he got admitted to the same college with a rank in the top five in the entire state, there wasnt anyone who knew either. That includes my grandparents, among others.

Yes,this is one similarity. And,the only one.My father still doesn't know if I have graduated or not.He never knew which class I studied in,when I was in school. He would look towards my mother with a lot of doubts if I were actually in Class 9 or Class 10,when someone asked,"Hello PK,did your son just shift his school"? Thats the only similarity. But,thats not deliberate.Thats just lack of curiosity.

However, one thing I am sure of.The same situation prevailed back in 1976,with the Naxal Movement that spread like a wildfire in West Bengal in the 1970s.Everything was halted, there was no education,no industrial progress.Only one student (or maybe, two) student(s) were placed from the entire gang of Shibpur graduates. My father was the only one.The job however, although paid well, wasnt upto his standard. It was a company that met with its end in the very next decade, along with some other companies of the Martin Burn Group.

A very similar situation prevails now with the 'Big Brother' supposedly in the doldrums, and Third World Countries like ours, which are abundant in the third world objects that very few other countries can boast of,are actually still waiting for the green signal to be shown by them.It is shocking, how even Indian software companies (except a few,I dont want to name) are actually handing out their offer letters soon after graduation.I have been placed with a US based company, that is obviously huge and least affected by this economic downturn.I thought what would be a respite initially, has turned into a source of bitter pain.

Today's Times Ascent has nothing new to offer to fresh graduate engineers.I did however spot a few BPO/Call Centre jobs, that might just help me kill 'time' for the being.Afterall, you've got to take a little bit of pain,to be on the cover page of Time. What say?

An exception
An exception to my world,as it stands now.

"Believe what you see,
See what you believe".

Both are not complementary to each other.Even if they are, clearly do not bring about pleasant memories from the past and add to my present, only showing me the door to hell.

As I turn from 89 to 90.
Tuesday, June 30, 2009
In my 89th post,I called for God.

Today evening,I did a wrong.I asked for a wrong.
I rectified myself, unknowingly. To complete the circle.

Now that I realise, the rain gods in Delhi are dancing to my tune to salute my being of 90.

Salut.

One God.
